Iranian and Chinese ministers of economy and finance met on the sidelines of ‘New Silk Road’ summit in Beijing to stress resolve for expanding economic cooperation and removing potential obstacles ahead.

Iran’s Economy Minister Ali Tayebnia, who was in Beijing to take part in the ‘New Silk Road’ summit, held talks with Chinese Minister of Finance Xiao Jie on Monday, where the two sides conferred on ways to further expand bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed Chinese banks’ financing of Iran’s infrastructure projects as introduced to them by the Iranian side.

The Chinese side also noted Iran’s role in the execution of the ‘New Silk Road’ plan formally known as the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’, welcoming Tehran’s participation in various related projects as well as the Islamic Republic's assistance with the implementation of the project in other countries.

Xiao Jie further highlighted his country’s firm resolve for closer cooperation with Iran and making more attempts to remove any obstacle to the increase of trade transactions between the two countries, including some international rules and regulations that could hamper Iran-China’s economic ties.
